Mixin' it up - youtube style

Thruyou
What you see is what you hear
Phil Barnes
Interactive Director

Take random youtube clips, cut out snippets, string them together to make music and what do you get? www.thru-you.com is the result and we were not only blown away but the genius of this but the quality of the tracks and how well it was realised. Once you have listened to a few, check out the credits at the end to see where they came from... Amazing!

Design police are operating in this area

Bringing bad design to justice
Andrew Machin
Senior Interactive Designer

Comic Sans. Posters designed in MS Word. Spelling mistakes. Stretched, low resolution images. Widowed text. Inch glyphs used as quote marks. Just a few of the henious violations of design principles that are all too frequent in every day life. All of which we at Whitespace find, shall we say, more than a little irksum.

Now we can fight back thanks to this handy kit from design-police.org. Simply print, cut and affix as appropriate wherever you find these odious crimes against design.

Bring down IE6!!

Bd
Ancient browser hinders web development says Opera web evangelist
Phil Barnes
Interactive Director

A recent article in .NET magazine made me chuckle. Basically, Internet Explorer 6 has caused problems for web designers for some time now, due to its lack of support for the latest CSS and XHTML techniques. Web developers spend lots of time trying to make things work in IE6 when they work perfectly fine in Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera for example. Try googling "IE6 hack" and you'll see what I mean.

The .NET magazine article asks us to support the campaign to "bring down IE6" with the tag "Together we will win"!!  So why not?, it's caused us many problems here so we display the badge with pride!

The truth can hurt
Nick Birch
Creative Director

As a designer you have to develop pretty thick skin to accept criticism from your creative directors. But when your art director is your outspoken, impossible to please 4 year old daughter you need a suit of armor complete with riot shield.

VEET - Press ad

Simple but clever - the essence of a great idea
Karen Woodhead
Marketing Director

How to exploit the incidental! We loved Veet's press ad in Australia, launched to coincide with Barack's inauguration. Two words were all it took for a successful ad and the global viral that resulted.

Simple but clever!  Love it!
